Craftsman Connected

There is no avoiding it, we live in a digital era. As everyone catches on and clutches a smartphone in their hands, we all move to make our lives easier by harnessing the power of our makeshift microcomputers. Apps on portable devices can make things ‘smart’, interacting with everything from cars to light bulbs, and Craftsman products are quickly joining the status quo.

Smart Garage Door Opener
A personal favorite of ours here at the Craftsman Cave, @craftsman’s smart garage door opener technology has been the most ongoing, and has paved the way for other smart technology. I’ve owned mine for over two years now, and I’ve been nothing but pleased. With the tap of your screen, the Craftsman Smart Garage Door Opener allows you to open and close your garage door from anywhere, send customizable notifications (mine is set to alert me when the door has been open for more than an hour), and check the status of your garage door.

Smart Lock Tool Storage
I’ve see bluetooth stereos and ceiling fans. A tap on your screen controls them, and almost makes the technology seem magical. But imagine that in a tool chest. How you wonder? Lockability. Check the status of and lock or unlock this Craftsman Pro Series Tool Storage with Smart Lock, and than charge the same portable device in the top chest’s built in power strip with USB ports. Editor’s note: this product is among the first tools (non-lawn-and-garden items) to bare the Craftsman Pro name, and it also not the last!

Smart Lawn
I truly think that the product managers at Craftsman do not regard their riding mowers and tractors as lawn equipment but rather as automobiles, which is what sets them apart from the competition in big ways. Though I do not own any, when I walk into a Sears, I always find myself admiring their beauty in sleek curves and fascinating features. And it inspires me to know that smart technology has made it’s way into this arena as well, and the features here look to be the most across all of Craftsman’s smart product offerings. To name a few, a connected zero turn mower will check the status of key components along age (time-to-change) on oil, blades, and filters. What’s more is the app has information at your fingertips like tutorials, and even lets your order parts. The coolest thing? The app tracks the days since your last mow and suggests the perfect time to mow based on weather conditions. That’s not all - it also tracks time left until sunset so you’re never caught in the dark.

Alfie
Not Craftsman, but still immensely useful in your digital life. Aptly named, Alfie will ‘fetch’ anything you need to shop for, within your budget, with no strings attached. Your voice accesses product reviews, prices and delivery options. Alfie learns your needs and preferences the more you use it, and is backed by real human intelligence, not just computer processing. Works anywhere wi-fi is available, and with it’s magnetic base, and can be placed almost anywhere.
